Bob Beitcher, MPTF President and CEO, Responds to LAT Article

December 3, 2010

Ever since I joined the Fund earlier this year, I have been committed to full transparency. Nothing has changed in that regard. Yesterday the LA Times ran an article about talks with two health care systems, Providence and UCLA, in connection with our own hospital on The Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills. While I have been open to reporting to MPTF employees and residents, that we have held discussions with third-parties about partnering on the MPTF hospital (and the hospital only!), I want to be clear that we are still in the preliminary stages and that no announcement is imminent. Any gossip or rumors you hear on this matter are just that – gossip and rumors and should be treated as such. Our goal remains as I stated it in February when I accepted this position and that is to find a solution that best serves MPTF residents, staff, and the entertainment industry community. That is what I am pursuing. Please keep your fingers crossed we can reach that solution! It will serve everyone better than the alternative. At the point in which our talks result in a partnership of any type, I will share the good news. And if there is anything to share before that, I will do that as well.

I have asked MPTF staff to remain focused on maintaining the high standard of MPTF care and service. It is too easy to be distracted by rumor and gossip and we all have a commitment to our residents and patients to do our best for them.
